My sweetheart just bought me a really nice corset with steel boning and everything. Do you have any posts on how to store corsets? I've just folded it up and put it back in the plastic back it was mailed in.
Hi! How sweet of your sweetie…corsets are awesome. :)
We don’t have any posts on the blog right now about how to store a corset (I thought for sure we did, then I searched and it turns out we don’t), but one of our columnists, Marianne - who works for Dark Garden and is a corsetiere in her own right - is doing a series about how to care for your corset and I’ll pass your question along to her. You can check out the first two installments in her Corset Care series here.
I would say to you definitely want to wipe down the inside of your corset and let it air dry before you put it back in the plastic just to get rid of any sweat or body oils (after all, you don’t want a mildewy or rusty corset).
You could also invest in a corset storage bag to keep it in between wearings, but honestly, a natural fiber pillowcase does just as well.
Thank you! I'm sure you get told all the time but I love your blog and thank you for all the helpful info you post! It's my no.1 resource for any questions I have and I love love love reading all the posts :)
You’re welcome! And thank you for the kind words. :)
On a contraceptive pill, and due to the hormones concerned etc, my breasts fluctuate between two cup sizes monthly, sometimes meaning I wear one size larger for half the month or longer. What would you suggest in terms of buying lingerie?
If your cup size is going up for half a month or longer, you may want to have two sets of bras, one for the smaller size and one for the larger size. Alternatively, if you’re smaller-busted, you could wear a more flexible kind of bra (like a bralette) which could better accomodate the changes in cup size. Hope this helps!
There are people who think I should only post photos of small-busted women. There are people who think I should only post photos of full-busted women. There are people who think I should only post photos of women with tattoos or plus sized women or older women or women who aren’t photoshopped, etc. etc. etc.
Usually, it’s couched in language like, “Where are the real women?” or “I never see women who look like me.” followed by a link to one post (out of thousands) on one social media platform (out of a half dozen).
As a muscular, scarred-up, afro’d, black woman who never sees anyone who looks like her in any mainstream media anywhere (unless it’s a photo of myself that I posted myself), I want to know that I understand your frustration. Truly. Underrepresentation sucks.
But before you send me an angry message complaining that I never post about full busted women or I never post about plus size women or I never post about small busted women, I really need you to search the platform you’re on. Because while I fully acknowledge that making TLA’s blog and social platforms more diverse is an on-going project (and one I am fully committed to), it really bothers me when people assume I have a personal vendetta against whatever group they’re a part of because I didn’t post the particular photo they wanted to see on the particular day they stopped by.
In other words, to expect every single photo or article that any blogger posts to represent you or be applicable to you is an unreasonable expectation.
I am not a full bust blogger. I am not a plus size blogger. I am not a small bust blogger. I am a lingerie blogger. And I post photos of the lingerie that inspires me (which just so happens to include a LOT of different things) at any given time on any given day.
If you don’t see what you were looking for at that particular time on that particular day, come back tomorrow or the day after that or the day after that. Because chances are, we’re getting to it.
do you have any recommendations for practical, pretty underwear for a fiftysomething U.S. size 16 that aren't a traditional brief cut or a thong? preferably under $20 a par? i'm trying to help my mother shop for underwear but since we're completely different sizes and have completely different tastes i have no idea where to look.
I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for from your description, but the last time I was in need of some pretty, practical underwear for less than $20/pair, I found a ton of options at HerRoom, so I’d recommend starting there. Hope this helps!
