What (inexpensive) brands would you recommend for a college student looking to buy her first lingerie? I'm looking for everyday items that look nice together but are still durable and pretty. Thank you!
What’s your budget, lovely? I can answer your question a lot better if you tell me exactly how much you’re wanting to spend.
It’d also help to know your size as the budget options available for B-D cups are very different than the options for DD+ cups or A and below cups.
I do have a Pinterest folder that features only pieces that are $50 or less if you’d like to check that out. I’d link you to it, but I’m on my phone.
So, basically, I need a bit more info before I can answer your question. After all, inexpensive means something different to everyone. :)
I know you posted an article or post about it, but I can't find it on here or on your page. I am looking for some shapewear...I currently have some spanx (covers belly, butt and thighs) but I am looking for something I can wear shorts in as well. The reason is I wear a lot of high waisted pants and jeans. Even when I wear high waisted underwear it isn't always smooth and I would like to be flatter. Any advice?
Hmmm…from what you’re telling me, I’d take a look at some high-waisted shaping briefs. Either that or shaping boyshorts. That way you’ll get the shaping effect and also be able to wear it under shorts.
I need to write a 500 word blog on vintage (1940s in particular) swimwear! I know a little on the history of the bikini etc but I don't really know how to structure it. Also, I need to include some online shopping options so do you have any suggestions for that? Help!!
Um…I’m not going to write your blog post for you.
Asking a specific question is one thing. Wanting a complete history of 1940’s swimwear plus a list of stores you can buy it from today, is another.
Hii :) I have a dress that I've been crazy to wear but I dont have the right undergarments. The fabric of the dress clings to the body and everything I wear under is noticeable. What would you recommend?
It is impossible for me to say exactly without knowing the dress (clingy fabric and noticeable underwear fits a very wide range of garments), but it sounds like you need something seamless with laser cut edges (like these knickers from Commando). Or a shaping slip or set of boyshorts (like these from Yummie Tummie).
Hey Treacle - love your blog! I am just wondering if you could help me out with something, I'm wanting to purchase a sheer demi bra from the Agent Provocateur website (I don't live close to any of their stores) and I was wanting to know if you had much experience with their lingerie and sizing - is their sizing true to most other stores and brands? and do I need to consider a different size for a demi cup? I'd be so grateful for your help & input, thank you! X
It’s funny but your question is actually kind of hard to answer because there is no standard sizing among stores and brands.
I’m a 34C in most everything, but I’m one of those weird people for whom the +4 formula works and so most everything fits me. On the other hand, I know some women who take a different size in every. single. bra. brand.
Personally, AP bras are a bit snug on me; I find they don’t have a lot of give. AP also uses UK sizing which tends to run a bit tighter than US sizing. Ditto for their knickers.
On the plus side, I have found that AP has a really great return policy. So, since you’re not able to visit one of their stores, you may want to get a couple of bras in the size you think you are, and then after that, you’ll know which one works best for you.
Hey Treacle, love the blog. But I am trying to look on the Happy Socks website and it`s not showing me anything. I`ve never been on the site before and I`m wondering f this is normal, or just something with my computer? I need new tights!!
Hi! I just tested the link from my blog and the site loaded just fine. I think it may be something with your computer. :-(
Hello there! I just wanted to thank you for having such a helpful blog! I just ordered a silk slip from Farr West after reading your "Everything You Need to Know About Pin-Up Lingerie" post. Thanks for the advice :)
Yay! So happy to hear that. Would love to know what you think when you get the slip. :)
