theresidentpatient asked: Hello! At Timeless Trends, I found a corset I really like the look of, but it doesn't seem to be altering the silhouette of the model much at all. In your list of places to buy a corset from, you mentioned having made a satisfactory purchase from them, so I was wondering if the model simply isn't wearing the right size, and the corset will indeed cinch beautifully provided I order 4-6 inches below my natural waist.

I believe Timeless Trends is a good buy for the price. For only $99, you can get an authentic steel-boned, well-constructed corset that won’t fall to pieces after one wearing. In fact, all their corsets come with a lifetime guarantee.

However, the tradeoff is that you won’t get a perfect fit. Timeless Trends corsets are cut into roughly the shape of a cylinder so if you’re not shaped that way (for example, if you’re an hourglass, or a pear, or an apple), you’re not going to see as much of an effect.

If you’re looking for drastic cinching (i.e. of the 4-6 inches variety) and custom isn’t an option, then you’ll probably want to go with a higher quality corset that’s made to better specifications, like these hip gored ones from What Katie Did. Of course, that means they’re more expensive, but it all depends on what your budget is and how important getting the reduction you want is.

In summary, unless you happen to fit Timeless Trend’s fit model specs exactly, you can’t expect custom corset results (like a 4-6 inch reduction) from a budget-priced, off-the-rack corset.

Hope this helps!
