EXCUSE ME?
Ok, now, I’ve seen some unbelievable bullshit during my time at Corset Fakery, but I’ve never been as enraged and… bewildered… as this product page has just made me.
Firstly, corset fans will recognise the Extreme Mae corset (from the excellent UK company What Katie Did), and see that the photograph has been stolen from their website. They might also notice that the NAME of the corset has also been ‘borrowed’
Now, this particular incarnation of the Mae corset is called “Extreme” for a reason. As you can see, it offers an intense waist reduction and an exceptional silhouette. This is achieved though expert craftsmanship and high-quality materials. That’s an awful lot of value for $26.40…
Here’s a larger version of one of the images you might have noticed in the accompanying thumbnails:

You’ll agree, I hope, that there’s nothing “Extreme” about this item of clothing whatsoever. However, the fact that the company feels confident in displaying the items side-by-side makes it clear that they’re happy to exploit misconceptions surrounding a corset’s function (eg. that you can get an extreme corset curve from any corset provided you lace it ‘properly’ or ‘tightly enough’)
These companies don’t care that they’re undermining the hard work of expert corset makers, while pulling scams on fans of quality lingerie and alternative fashion.
Remember - spread the word, do your research*, and always know what you’re buying.
*Oh, and follow my blog, of course!

Spot the difference! We’ve already kicked them off the web once…
